FISH AND CHICKEN Picnic Fundraiser for BRG and
Fishing Day for kids and adults

Join us for a great day picnicing at the Broad River!  Tickets are available in advance for fish and chicken plates or stop by the day of and grab a plate to enjoy at home or along the trails.  Tickets are available from Greenway Council members, Ranger Rollins and online. 

In addition, in partnership with Mountain True and the Broad River Keeper we are hosting a fishing day for kids and adults.  Wildlife Educator Tanya Poole will be on site to with fishing tips and tricks.  Ever try fishing with hotdog bits soaked in cherry jello?  You might be surprised. Come out and enjoy some great home churned ice cream, casting demos, bait and lure info.  A great opportunity to learn more about fishing from NC Wildlife Resources Specialist Tanya Poole, this event is open to kids and adults alike.   See you at the river!

Explore the wonderful world of yoga surrounded by the beauty of Broad River.  Bring your own mat, meet at the large picnic shelter in front of the Ranger Station.   See you at the river!

- Work Day

Celebrate National Trail Day by spending a some time on the trails. Wear weather appropriate clothing and closed toe shoes. If you have work clothes bring them but we will have some available. Work days include litter pick up, invasive plant removal, pruning back vines and limbs encroaching on trails among many other projects. This is a great opportunity for scouts, church groups, civic groups and those interested in taking care of our green spaces.
First 100 volunteers receive a free Meet Me at the River T-shirt!

5k - 10 Mile Trail Race

Well behaved dogs on a leash are welcome 🙂
 
NO DAY OF REGISTRATION – Packet pickup will be last chance to register
10 MILE and 5k STARTS 8:00 A.M.
Chip start so you can start your race once you have your chipped bib.
$25 advance registration
$30 day Packet Pick-up (T-shirt not guaranteed).
NO day of registration
As usual, both races will begin at the Ranger Station, then down to the River Trail passing by the playground…….
10 mile- The 10 mile heads west along the River Trail, right on Birch Trail, left on Jolly Mtn Trail, back onto the River Trail, right on Wild Turkey Trail, left on Flint Hill, right on College Farm, cross the creek and up to Cul-de-sac, follow the gravel road back to the gate, left on the Ellis Farm, right on Sandy Run Trail, back to the gravel road, right on College Farm, cross the creek, cross the power line, right on Flint Hill, follow the River Trail back, and finish at the Ranger Station.
5K – The 5k will be running 1.5 miles upstream turning around and running 1.5 miles back along the River Trail. Participants will start as soon as chips are received starting at 9:00 a.m.
Packet Pick-Up October 7, 2022— Friday 3-7pm at the Ranger Station, 126 Broad River Road, Boiling Springs, NC
The Broad River Greenway is a 1500 acre preserve owned by Cleveland County and managed by a non-profit Board. The course follows a natural surface trail along the Broad River.
 
 
 

 

Equestrian Poker Ride

(DAY OF EVENT $30) Cash or check only day of event
50% purse split among 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place
50% benefits the Greenway.
You may register in advance by mailing name, address and check for $25 per rider to BRG Equestrian Poker Run, P.O. Box 1015 Boiling Springs, NC 28107. Make check payable to Broad River Greenway. Please allow adequate time for check to be received prior to event.
Register the day of event between 10 –11 am. Poker Run Trail opens at 10 am. LAST RIDER ON TRAIL BY 11:00 a.m.
PLEASE BE AWARE YOU MUST HAVE A CURRENT HEALTH CERTIFICATE IF YOU TRAVEL ACROSS STATE LINES AND CURRENT COGGINS
 

Drawing for prizes will be done will you are riding and awarded upon your return. SOCIAL DISTANCING AND MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED when signing in and accepting prizes.

Donations will be accepted for lunch as you finish your ride.
Ride additional marked trails on your own after completing the Poker
Greenway Poker Run t-shirts will be available for purchase the day of event.
